15th Annual Lincoln Day Dinner honorees, Tom and Linda Bauer
Congratulations to our Lincoln Day Dinner Recipients Tom and Linda Bauer!
Tom married Linda Tierney in September of 1975. Linda is a 1973 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and Tom is a 1974 graduate of Pawling High School, a 1999 graduate of Dutchess Community College and a 2003 graduate of Marist College. Linda and Tom are the proud parents of Tom Jr. and Stefanie and the proud Mimi and Poppy of Tom Jr. and his wife Trisha’s children, Kylie and Kaitlyn. Kylie and Kaitlyn are the willing recipients of Poppy’s and Mimi’s generous spoiling.
Linda has been employed as a secretary at Arlington Central School District for 26 years. Linda is a current member of the Town of Poughkeepsie Republican Committee and the Poughkeepsie Women’s Republican Club of which she is a past Treasurer.
She has been a co-chair of the Women’s Club annual Woman of the Year dinner and is currently a committee person for the event. Linda is a current member of the Rochdale Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and is a past girl scout leader and CCD teacher at
St. Martin DePorres. She and Tom have both been actively involved with the Step Into Spring breast cancer fundraising event. Linda is a breast cancer survivor and is celebrating her 8th year of a clean bill of health!
After nearly thirty years of service, Tom retired from IBM in 2012. Since then he has been serving the County at the Dutchess County Board of Elections where he maintains the voting machines, aids with voter registration and is the social director/morale booster for the organization. While at IBM, Tom worked in several manufacturing and
engineering groups, but his fondest memories of Big Blue were doing community activities with the support of IBM. He continues to donate his time, treasure and talent to several not-for-profit organizations; Ryan’s Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association and Rebuilding Together Dutchess County to name a few. In 2011 Tom was honored with
the United Way of Dutchess County “Volunteer of the Year Spirit Award”.
Tom fondly remembers wanting to get involved with Poughkeepsie politics, so he turned to his Dad for advice on who he should speak with. Mr. Bauer told his son, “see Butch, our beloved Sheriff, he’ll point you in the right direction!” After a couple of years on the
committee Tom became a Ward chair, a position he still holds. A few years later he became TOP GOP Vice Chairman under Jeff Richter. With the passing of Bruce Pells, Tom was appointed, later elected, Third Ward Councilman to the Town Board. A few years later he was appointed as an alternate to the Town Planning Board. It was an
honor and a privilege for Tom to sit on both boards.
Linda and Tom Bauer continue to be involved with the Dutchess County Republican Committee and the Town of Poughkeepsie Republican Committee. Together, Tom and Linda enjoy tirelessly helping their community charities and political party thrive.
We are honored and proud to have Tom and Linda as a part of our Committee! We will celebrate and honor them at the Lincoln Day Dinner, Thursday, February 19th at the Poughkeepsie Grand. Please join us to celebrate an amazing couple!
