Republican Party Chair
Tom Bauer, a graduate of Dutchess Community and Marist colleges, was born and raised in Pawling, New York, and has spent his lifetime as a Dutches County resident.
Tom and his lovely wife Linda have lived in Poughkeepsie since 1986 where they raised their two children, Tom and Stefanie. For 30 years Tom was employed at IBM in the manufacturing and engineering departments. Tom’s love for local politics began in the late 90’s. In 2004 he was appointed to the Town board to represent the 3rd Ward following the tragic death of councilman Bruce Pells. Later that year, Tom was elected, in a special election, to finish out Bruce’s term. Tom later served on the Town Planning Board, as an alternate, from 2007-2011.
Over the years Tom has served on several boards of directors including Rebuilding Together Dutchess County, Dutchess County Community Action Agency, The Marist Red Fox Club and Angels of Light, Hudson Valley. He has also stayed involved with the community as a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association and the United Way.
Tom cares deeply about his community. He believes being politically active is another way of staying involved and will ultimately make Poughkeepsie, and Dutchess County, a better place to live and raise a family.
